Recent comments made by the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs have sparked a strong reaction from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In a post on social media, the Israeli official criticized Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, labeling him as a “sultan” among other remarks. This exchange of words has heightened tensions between the two nations.
In their announcement, the Turkish Ministry dismissed the Israeli claims as “baseless slanders and despicable lies against our country and our president.” They emphasized the accountability of Netanyahu and his associates, suggesting that they will ultimately face justice when the support and immunity that Israel currently enjoys in certain circles dissipates.

According to the Turkish Ministry’s statement, “The post by the Israeli Foreign Minister consists of baseless slanders and despicable lies against our country and President Erdoğan. The fact that Israeli officials are focusing so intensely on our President’s statements confirms the accuracy of the issues raised.”
They further asserted that “Netanyahu is responsible for being associated with those who have committed genocide throughout history and is currently on trial for such accusations.” The Ministry condemned the actions of Israeli leaders as blatant violations of human rights taking place in front of the entire world, leaving no room for doubt.
Furthermore, they reiterated that “Netanyahu and his accomplices will have to answer for their actions before the law once the support and shield of immunity enjoyed by Israel in certain circles is lost. As our President stated, we hope that Netanyahu and his associates will be tried fairly.”

In his post on social media, Gideon Sa’ar, the Israeli Foreign Minister, launched a scathing attack on Erdoğan, claiming it is “particularly ironic that someone who does not hide his imperialistic ambitions, someone who invaded northern Syria and illegally occupies northern Cyprus, claims to speak in the name of ethics and international law.”
His remarks included strong rhetoric against Erdoğan, who is accused of a record of suppressing the freedoms and rights of his citizens and opposition. Sa’ar described Erdoğan’s comments as “incendiary” and highlighted the contradictions in Erdoğan’s positions regarding human rights.
In his statement, Sa’ar wrote, “The Sultan in his own eyes, in yet another inflammatory speech, continues to incite against Israel and against the Israeli Prime Minister. It is particularly ironic that someone who does not hide his imperialistic ambitions, has invaded northern Syria, and illegally occupies northern Cyprus, claims to speak in the name of ethics and international law. A little self-awareness would be beneficial.”
